Project Details

Satpara Dam Project, Sakardo town in the Northern area of Pakistan.

Project Overview

The project comprises of a dam alongwith appurtenant works being constructed across the Satpara Nullah. Irrigation and power requirements from reservoir would be released through an outlet structure to be located near the right abutment of the Dam. Providing two powerhouses in cascade development will develop power potential of the Satpara nullah between lake and Skardu Town. Water from the outlet structure would be conveyed to the power house-1 through RCC conduit and steel penstock. An intake structure along Satpara nullah just downstream of proposed powerhouse-1 will divert water to power canal for proposed power house-2. Each powerhouse will be equipped with 2 no Francis turbines. An outlet valve would be provided to release the irrigation flows to nullah. In case of shut down of powerhouse-1 at outlet structure a type bifurcation is provided. A gated spillway would be provided to pass flood discharge.

A 5 Km tunnel with intake structure along Shatung nullah would be constructed to divert its flow to Satpara nullah. Gated Spillway would be RCC Structure. A stilling basin is provided for dissipation of energy through hydraulic jump. In take structure will be provided with sedimentation basin.

Irrigation system will be constructed to irrigate land on both banks of Satpara nullah for about 15436 acres of land. Two canals one on each bank along with distribution system will be constructed. A weir for flow diversion to canals will be constructed downstream of proposed powerhouse-2 from where water supply to Skardu city will also be provided.

This hydro power project included preparation of feasibility study, detailed engineering design and tender documents for Satpara Dam Multipurpose project. The assignment was scheduled to be completed in 48 months time.
